The Superfood Index
1. Eat Food. Not too much. Mostly Plants.
2. Eat Superfoods. Foods packed with nutrients in each serving. Use a Superfood index, which pairs the most nutritious foods with delicious recipes.
3. Eat real foods. Whether your concerned about salmonella in peanut butter and bisphenol. A residue form foods packed in plastic, or plain confused by misleading food labels, less processed foods are the answer.
4. Eat Local. Get your foods locally. So you can ask your farmer how she grows her food. and how she cares for the soil.
Eat in season. Get your nutrition from foods that are in season whenever possible to ensure freshness and reduce food miles.

When my girls were small and our income was not where we needed it to be, I would head down to the nearest second hand store to dig through the racks of gently used clothing. My girls were much too litttle to realize that they were not wearing the latest "Baby Gap" or 'Macys" off the rack.
Here are some helpful hints;
1. Make it an outing by visiting a park or stopping for lunch before or afterwards.
2.Take them during Halloween. did you know that Goodwill carries some of the coolest costumes available. Thats because once used, few people hang on to them.
3. Turn thrift items into craft activities.
As I was growing up, second hand clothing was something my girlfriends and I frowned upon, unless it was up to us trading off, back and forth jeans & t-shirts. Somewhere in my 20's, it all became cool to me. One of my favorite stops was a vintage shop in Venice, Ca. The best still is picking up a pair of Levi's and a pair of cowboy boots. Always a classic look. So.. to all you moms out there. Give it a shot if you haven't taken the little one out yet.

In reconigition of the efforts of the cities across the country to provide energy-efficient, least polluting and healthy living spaces, the green guide presents the environmental leaders, those cities whose Green Acheivements set the standard for others.
As the New York Times has reported, in the absence of federal direction, cities across the country are taking environmental stewardship into their own hands and reducing their own burden on the planet.
Cities were asked with population over 100,00 to complete a survey and in combination with environmental data, gathered from government sources.
Here are the results
The top ten are:
Eugene, OR
Austin, TX
Portland, OR
St Paul, MN
Santa Rosa, CA
Oakland, CA
Berkeley, CA
Honolulu, HI
Huntsville, AL
Denver, CO
All of these cities are making huge efforts moving ahead, saving our environment by renewable energy supplying 85% of city's power, extensive wetland programs, Green builder programs, committed to solar power, Green building, excellent public transportation, smart growth initiative, affordable housing, community gardens, bicycle paths and lanes.
Meditation and relaxation encourage a balanced life to allow you to center yourself admist everyday chaos. It's hard, however to find an oasis of the calm when mind and body products that intend to soothe could potentially harm you, your surroundings, and the environment on the whole while hormone disrupting phthalates and dioxin-producing polyvinyl chloride (pvc) seem to find a way into everything from your yoga mat, candles, incense to massage oils.
"Coyote Founds" newest line of scented candles offer a clean burning alternative to smokey incense or lead wick candles.

I'd like to share this with you, as I was driving home one evening I glanced toward a church as always, I love to read the signage. Usually there is a prophetic inspiration posted that makes you think about where you are in your life and your personal walk with Jesus. This one really tickled me.

Sometimes entertaining kids at home just isn't working. Keeping the kids entertained means their much easier to deal with and nap time doesen't become a dramatic mess. But picking educational activities is so important. Why not show them the important role that mother nature plays in their every day lives? Here are some awesome ideas for inexpensive GREEN field trips. Check out the botanical gardens in your area, you can introduce them to plants and vegetation that they may or may not have had the chance to learn about as of yet. Head out to one of your local farms, introduce them to the farmers.Have to kids ask questions about what grows best in their area and encourage to have them set up their own personal garden, find a small area in the yard and start a strawberry patch! This way as they grow they will learn to appreciate high quality foods and why it's important to buy the best. Teach them what organic means and why its so important.
I wanted to share one of Beth Moore's posts this evening. I'm a big fan of hers and have had the opportunity to take several Bible Study Courses that she teaches. which is a group session with workbooks and video. I have found her to be so warm and so real, from her books to her video teachings she has you laughing one moment and in tears the the next. She goes deep down in your soul and takes hold of your heart and points you in the right direction, and that's towards Jesus.
Here's just a bit of her.
My Dear Sister
Do not throw away your confidence
if you ever do
Go dig it out of that trash can and stand upon God's truth
Girlfriend, you need to persevere
God's will for your life is fabulous and effective
But you'll never fulfill it if your a quiter
Remember where you and God have been together
And trust that he will never forget all the times you chose him.
Stay alert
Stand firm in the faith
Show courage
Be Strong
You will be richly rewarded
Become an active encourager and actively receive encouragement
Now leave this place and go stir up some people to love and do good works
Your middle name is confidence
Go do this thing.
"May the sun in his course visit no land more free, more happy, more lovely, than this our own country!"
Daniel Webster
" You have to love a nation that celebrates it's Independence every July 4th, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw frisbee's, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have over eaten, but it's the patriotism"
Erma Bombeck
"Ask not what your country can do for you, Ask what can you do for your country"
John Fitzgereald Kennedy
"This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave"
Elmer Davis
